“Her world was now upside down and skipping to the beat of broken drums. She didn’t like it, she hadn’t had a full night of sleep in almost a week because of it, and she would probably end up in a nuthouse by the time it was all said and done.

Fine, whatever.”

Sealed with a Twist

Never jump on the path to true love until you’re sure you have the right directions.

Ricki Nichols should’ve heeded this advice, but the answer to Madame Dupre’s riddle had seemed so clear. And after a sophomore year of being ignored by the object of her obsession, overshadowed by the clique of perfection known as her best friends, and tormented by the budding antichrist who lived next door, she needed a little clarity in her life. Gypsy riddle solved, target for love sighted—let the countdown to eternal bliss begin.

But something had gone wrong.

Instead of happily ever after, Ricki finds nights plagued with bizarre dreams and days of waking up in strange places, with tales of behavior she doesn’t remember haunting her through the school halls. With one wrong turn, her simple desire for love had plunged her into a twisted world beyond her control.

Now she doesn’t know what is happening to her…or who she is becoming.

In Their Own Words…

People ask me to describe my characters, but I can never do them justice.  So here’s a few words from their own mouths, stolen from the pages of the book.  Don’t blame me–they said it!

RICKI NICHOLS ~ “I can’t dance, I don’t drink, and no boy has wanted to make out with me since that creepy Cousin Tony incident in the sixth grade. But there’s even a place for the Uncool, like me, to call home.”

DAMIAN MARQUEZ ~ “I’m D Marquez, baby! Strong, sexy, and sinful. What you see is what you get.”

DENISE HOLMES ~ “The right hair and makeup can make anyone look good, but it’s really all about being confident in yourself and owning it. You should be able to walk around in a potato sack and shower cap and still be the finest thing on two legs.”

LINDSEY CALLAHAN ~ “There are a lot of girls that want to be with him. And they’ll give up whatever, whenever, to make it happen. So maybe instead of making nasty comments about my choices, you should start taking notes.”

YOLANDA MATSI ~ “It’s always easy to ‘just say no’ when no one ever asks you.”

TERESA MA ~ “Life is like fashion: it’s hit or miss.  And you’ll never hit if you let yourself be held back by the fear of missing.”

REGINALD JACOBS ~ “I have one of those days all the time. But then I put my dad’s bottle of Hennessy down, and it all goes away.”

MADAME CELESTE DUPRE ~ “I have seen many places and experienced many dreams. I have looked into the eyes of a baby and seen the man he was to become, and I have touched the soul of a woman to grieve for what she would never be.”

PRINCIPAL LAWRENCE DEARLING ~ “I’d kill for a Vicodin.”

About the Author:

V. A. Givens is a devourer of books and disciple of all things romance. Growing up as a military brat, she lived with a book permanently attached to each hand. Her imagination was shaped by a diverse spectrum of authors, from the fantasy of Lloyd Alexander and J. R. R. Tolkien to the suspense of Lois Duncan and V. C. Andrews. Inspired by their words, she now crafts the stories that captivated her youth: tales of ordinary people learning about life and love through extraordinary circumstances. Her debut novel, Sealed with a Twist, is the first in a series of books set in the fictional town of Willow, where everyone has a lesson to learn and reality is often subject to interpretation.

Her sophomore work-in-progress, Misfits Rising, brings more characters to love, fresh lessons to learn, and new mysteries to uncover. Six loners are forced to work together to survive against a powerful enemy. Can they escape this deadly threat before they end up killing each other?
